Ernie Harwell's "Baseball"
The great Ernie Harwell was an announcer in the big league for 55 years, 42 of those with the Detroit Tigers.

I created this blog to honor my boyhood hero, the greatest catcher to ever play for the Detroit Tiger, Bill Freehan.
Bill Freehan was an 11 time American League All-Star who played 15 seasons with the Tigers, 1961, 63-76.
Bill Freehan was my hero, and he is still my favorite baseball player ever.
With the announcement last weekend at the annual TigersFest at Comerica Park that the Tigers were honoring former manager Sparky Anderson by retiring #11, the Tigers never mentioned Freehan, and to me, that is simply wrong.
Freehan, who wore #11 proudly in most of his 1,591 games as a Detroit Tiger.(he briefly wore #19 as a rookie), IS #11 FOR THE TIGERS!
My commitment to this cause, to honor my hero, will be my passion until the Tigers properly honor Bill Freehan in retiring uniform #11.
